Hydrocyclone
Hydrocyclone systems are the most economical solution for treating produced water and separating oil. Maskoub developed them specifically for the offshore oil industry as a core device for recovering oil from produced water streams.

The system is installed directly downstream of the production separator and upstream of the water level control valve, and operates on differential pressure control.
Existing vessel capacity can be increased by up to 80% and separation efficiency improved by up to 30% without new equipment; Maskoub liners are compatible with most other hydrocyclone vessels.
Pressurized liquid inlet
Liquid is directed into the hydrocyclone tube, creating a strong vortex.
Centrifugal separation
Heavier water moves to the wall, lighter oil to the centre.
Discharge
Water leaves through the bottom outlet and oil through the top outlet, in just 2–3 seconds.
