BioMotix
BioMotix 500 is the large model of the BioMotix family, treating 500 m³ of wastewater per day. A hexagonal drum 3.5 m in diameter and 7.35 m long, it consists of 36 perforated mesh cages filled with 3D bio media. The drum rotates slowly, partly submerged in the tank, so bacteria feed on organic matter while in the water and take oxygen directly from the air while out of it, without air blowers.

Rotation performs three functions at once: feeding the bacteria, supplying them with oxygen directly from the air, and mixing the water in the tank. A 3 HP geared motor is therefore enough to drive the entire unit.
The 3D media inside the cages provide multiple internal and external growth surfaces protected from abrasion, instead of only the two disc faces in conventional RBC systems.
Immersion
The biofilm captures organic matter from the wastewater.
Rise
The media emerge into the air and absorb oxygen directly.
Growth
Bacteria multiply on the internal and external surfaces of the media.
Renewal
Excess biofilm sloughs off and is withdrawn from the bottom or separated in the final clarifier.
Key advantages
Very low energy
Geared motor 3 HP drives the entire unit.
3D biological media
Multiple protected growth surfaces instead of flat discs.
No blowers
no sludge recirculation, and low noise.
Gear Hardox 400
Large gear Ø3,552 mm, built from corrosion-resistant segments.
72 access hatches with covers
for filling and inspecting the media without dismantling the drum.
Solar power
A small electrical load suited to solar operation.

Applications
From the Maskoub stand at AquaEnergy Expo
“The Germans built disc systems in 1950; BioMotix is fully manufactured locally, with 3D biological media instead of flat discs.”
